Programs

Our Programs

Southside Montessori offers one continuous Montessori pathway from birth to age 12, so children move through every stage of early learning and primary school without changing schools. Each program builds on the one before, in calm, mixed-age classrooms where children learn at their own pace within a carefully prepared environment. Explore each program below.

Upper Primary

The Montessori approach

Across every program, children work in three-year mixed-age groups, choosing purposeful activities within clear boundaries. The teacher is a guide, and the classroom itself, the prepared environment, does much of the teaching. This is how Montessori children develop genuine independence, deep concentration and a lifelong love of learning. To understand the philosophy in more detail, visit our Why Montessori? page.

At Southside Montessori, we acknowledge the First Nations People of Australia as the resilient and resourceful custodians of the land, who have nurtured a strong connection to country through culture, songs and stories. We pay our respects to the Dharawal People of the Eora Nation on whose lands Southside stands and where we strive to embrace and value the perspectives of the world's oldest continuous living culture. This land was, is, and always will be, Aboriginal land.
